Revere booster club hosts fundraiser to raise money for athletics

The Revere All Sports Booster Club is setting up a sports rally to raise money for all Revere High School and Revere Middle School sports teams.

The Revere Booster Club has provided $380,000 in support of the athletic programs since 2010. They have also contributed $149,000 directly to sports teams’ accounts to help with ongoing costs, and they hope to continue raising money.

Table manager and ticket salesperson Coleen Wertz explained the fundamentals of the sports rally.

“The Revere Minutemen Sports Rally is one of the main fundraising activities of the Revere Booster Club. It is a reverse raffle and silent auction event including dinner and dessert. It is a way to meet the coaches, administration and other members of the community that support Revere sports,” Wertz said.

Booster Club president Alex Burlotos explained some activities that the rally will include.

“The evening includes dinner, a $2,000 reverse raffle drawing, raffle prizes, silent and live action items. There is also a DJ and dancing. There is plenty of socializing as many Revere families enjoy seeing each other,” Burlotos said.

Revere athletic director and sports rally table manager Bill Conley talked about how the Booster Club distributes the money throughout the district.

“The money is distributed on a need basis. Coaches present to the boosters and myself what they would like to purchase for their programs, and the Boosters and the athletic department determine if it is necessary. Then the boosters approve the purchase,” Conley said.

Wertz noted last years’ sports rally and how the upcoming event will compare.

“We were able to sell out the rally at around 400 people last year which is the most participation we have ever had up to this point. It was very successful last year, so we are hoping to get the same participation this year. We had made some changes to the event last year and it turned out very well so we are not changing the format to this years’ event,” Wertz said.

The Revere Minutemen Sports Rally will take place on Saturday March 12, 2016, at St. George Fellowship in Fairlawn, Ohio. The event will start at 6:30pm. For any additional information, visit the Revere Booster Club website.
