Walking in through the chilled weather, Terri Reinhold ascends the steps and makes a left, ready to take on her day. She sits down at her desk and reviews her seemingly never-ending to-do list for the day and quickly gets to work. She manages the hustle and bustle of Revere High School (RHS) from 7:34 A.M. to 2:37 P.M.; no task is too much for Reinhold.
Reinhold is an administrative assistant in the counseling office at RHS who thoroughly enjoys her job, but the tasks can be overwhelming, yet extremely rewarding.
“The basics would be making sure report cards and grades get run, I run all the official transcripts, and I greet students and families when they come through the door. I work on the College Credit Plus system. We get transcripts, and I have to add grades; we have to create courses for all those. Every day it’s different,” Reinhold said.
“Some days we feel like we need extra heads and extra arms. My favorite thing is the students and helping the students and being here for the counselors,” Reinhold said.
Working a wide variety of jobs before her position at RHS allows her to manage several outside tasks, such as managing upset or stressed students, while fulfilling the requests of counselors and administrators.
“I’ve had so many jobs in my life. Besides being a mom, I sold Pampered Chef at one point. I was working for Roadway [a trucking company] and lost my job. I had to try to figure out how we were going to balance two young children. . . . I worked a little bit for Cuyahoga Falls City Schools [and then] started at Revere in the athletic office,” Reinhold said.
Although the list seems long, Reinhold left out some key points in her career. RHS Principal Doug Faris spoke about the aspects she left out.
“A little teeny, tiny secret [about Reinhold], when she was younger, she was a model,” Faris said.
Reinhold works alongside Denise Timpone, who is new to the Administrative Assistant position. Timpone moved from the team of cafeteria staff to the group of staff members who help the administrators.
“Reinhold and I are starting to finish each other’s sentences or say the same thing at the same time. I love working with [the office staff] in the mornings and Mrs. Reinhold in the afternoon,’’ Timpone said.
Outside of her professional life, Reinhold enjoys music and has a passion for playing the handbells in a community choir.
“[The] community handbell choir is called Stow Heritage Ringers. . . . I will sit with my lunch and listen to music and work out the difficult parts. . . . I used to play with our church, handball choir, and the director left, and I was looking for a more challenging group. . . . I got recruited [into the Stow Heritage Ringers],” Reinhold said.
Reinhold remains active in her community outside of her handbell choir. On top of all her career paths, Reinhold battled cancer in her younger years and has been in remission ever since.
“I had non-Hodgkin lymphoma. It’s something that doesn’t get cured. It just goes into remission. . . . I told my son on the phone the other day, ‘I think that helped with my attitude through life and reactions to different things,’” Reinhold said.
Although seemingly a small part of the RHS community, the effect that Reinhold has on the student body is unmatched.
“Mrs. Reinhold, I think, is everything you would want a counseling office administrative assistant to be. [She’s the] first face that kids see, that warm, motherly [face]. A lot of times, kids are stressed going to the counseling office. They’re talking about their future, or they’re upset about something. She just handles everything with such grace and professionalism and a genuine care for the kids and the staff. It’s an honor to work with her, “ Faris said.
