Junior Pete Nance has been on the varsity team since he was a freshman. Nance shared what they have done so far this year to prepare for the upcoming season.

“This offseason our team worked at becoming better almost every day. Whether it was doing skill sessions after school or open gyms at other schools, we worked hard to prepare for our upcoming season,” Nance said.

Nance also went into discussing how they are going to reach the team’s goal this year of winning the Suburban League title.

“We are going to have to come together and work as a team on the offensive and defensive side of the ball if we want to achieve this goal,” Nance said.

Physical education teacher Dean Rahas is the head basketball coach at the school. Rahas shared what it is going to take to have a good season this year.

“It all depends on how hard we work and if we stay healthy,” Rahas said.

Senior George Russell shared what his thoughts are on how the team will do for his final season of basketball.

“I think if we work hard and work together we can win a lot of games. I see a lot of potential on the team this year,” Russell said.

Russell discussed what he is mostly looking forward to and excited for this season.

“We are extremely excited for this upcoming season. We hope that [the students] are as excited as we are and come out to support the team. It means the world to us to see a big student section getting loud and proud at the games. It brings a special energy to the gym. We want to win the league this year and we can’t do it without [the students],” Russell said.

The basketball team’s next game for the season is Tuesday at home against Theodore Roosevelt High School on December 20.
