The boys’ golf team has achieved a winning record against Suburban League teams, chalking up their achievements to their consistency and chemistry.

The team ended with a record of 5-2 against Suburban League teams, and when asked why the team has done so well, senior and three-year letter winner Mason Whitlam attributed it to “the practice [the team] put in and the chemistry between [the] players.”

Coach Jason Hance also cites the success of the team to consistency.

“People stepping up when [the team] needs them to has helped us to succeed,” Hance said.

Senior Danny Pavlich commented on playing individually as part of a team: “playing an individual sport while on a team is no different than other sports. You must perform well to benefit the team. Everyone benefits from each other playing well.

The team hopes to exceed their achievements from last year. Pavlich expressed a desire to take the team to the level of State competition

Whitlam voiced his hopes as well. “[we want to] make districts like we did last year, and also to push it to the next level and maybe even make States,” he said.

Hance expressed his hopes of finishing in the top half of competitors at the district level, besting last year’s finish of fourth place in districts and winning the Suburban League.

“We have a great chance to win the Suburban League this year,” Hance said.

In their first three tournaments of the year, the Alliance Invitational, CVCA Invitational and the Pre-Suburban League Tournament, the team earned third, fourteenth and fourth place finishes, respectively.

The team acribes its success to compatibility and unity.
