Project Love plans new projects for upcoming holiday season

Project Love works to help people in need and spread kindness throughout the school and community as the holiday season approaches.

Project Love adviser, math and science teacher Susan Sanders explained how Project Love works.

“A student will come in and discuss a project that they want to do and then we try to come together and make it happen,” Sanders said.

Sanders explained that Project Love is not as formal as other clubs and it is very much a student initiated group.

Project Love president Lucy Zhang explained that when students suggest an idea for a project they often need more people to help them to achieve their goal, and that they work with other clubs in the school.

Last year they worked on a project to help some underprivileged families in the Revere school district. They also worked with the digital design team to make blankets for a few families in the school.

The group recently sold bandanas for the powder-puff football game. The leader of the project, junior Joey Gilroy talked about his motivation behind selling the bandanas to benefit the American Cancer Society.

“I thought this would be a good way to not only get the needed bandanas but also raise money for a charity,” Gilroy said.

Zhang talked about the “satisfaction” of helping people in need.

“It is actually a lot of fun working with different people outside of school to achieve the projects,” Zhang said.

Project Love has many new projects coming up and will require assistance from students at Revere High School. They hosted a Kick It for Cancer fundraiser. Donations can be sent in through kick-it.org.
