Revere Students Participate in Art Show

Revere students of all grades will participate in the PTSA Celebration of the Arts show to display their pieces and compete for awards.
The PTSA will judge the art entries from grades ninth through twelfth to possibly win awards, such as Best of Show or Best Body of Work.
The senior booths are a tradition of the show that are growing in popularity each year. This year there will be 36 senior booths and 66 senior participants. Art teacher Sandra Fox is happy with the growing number of participants.
“The [students] art work is getting better and better, and more students are taking art classes and working harder,” Fox said.
Fox believes that participating in the art show is a great opportunity for all seniors, especially those who will create booths.
“It’s really a good experience if [the student] is ever going to show art in a gallery to see what it is like to set up [the display] and stand there opening night to hear people talking about [his or her] work. It is one of the best experiences,” Fox said.
Senior Nikki Henry will participate with a senior booth that she will create with her close friend Katie Mayer this year. Henry is excited to showcase her art work and has wanted to create a booth since she first saw them when she was in first grade. She explained the goal for her booth.
“My booth will not have a specific theme. Katie and I are just trying to create an open, inviting and comfortable booth that shows our work from previous classes,” Henry said.
Because the Celebration of the Arts show is a community effort, art teacher Robert Pierson explained that it is a great opportunity for students and the community to come together.
“It really showcase the tremendous capabilities of our students, and [seeing the students] make the artwork is the best reward,” Pierson said.
The PTSA Celebration of the Arts show will go from April 28 to May 1 from 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M.
