Band to travel to Phoenix to march in Fiesta Bowl Parade

The Revere High School band and choir will travel to Phoenix, Arizona, to march in the Fiesta Bowl Parade because of their reputation and performance at other venues.

This year, the band and choir are traveling with the Crestwood High School band and fifteen parent chaperones. Band Director Darren Lebeau spoke of the reasons for the band going to Phoenix this year.

“We were actually invited to Phoenix due to our good reputation and our performances at other sites. Although awards are being passed out, the band is mainly going for experience,” Lebeau said.

Dr. Deborah Devore, the High School Choir Director and Assistant Band Director, talked about what the choir is doing on this trip.

“We are going to provide some but not all of the music at a service at Valley Presbyterian Church in Paradise Valley, Arizona. We also have a concert at Valley Presbyterian Church Sunday morning with [the] band playing a few ensembles,” Devore said.

Field commander and senior member of the band, Vincent Zhang, mentioned why he is looking forward to this trip.

“Like every band trip, it is with the band family. It will be neat to march in the [Fiesta Bowl] Parade on national television. It will be a lot of fun and we will make a lot of good memories,” Zhang said.

Zhang touched on the differences between this band trip and the trip to Chicago.

“In Phoenix, [the band] is doing a mix of marching and concerts but in Chicago [the band] was just concerts,” Zhang said.

The trip is taking place from December 27 until January 2. Their performance will be on ABC at 11:00 AM on December 28.
