As the final Revere Players production of 2025 came to an end, most students quickly filed into the lobby to congratulate the cast. Backstage, though, a few students stayed behind, ensuring that each set piece was correctly put away before stepping into the light.
Kavana Lokesh has never needed the spotlight to make an impression. In fact, she has spent much of high school deliberately working behind the scenes—quietly building, supporting and guiding—whether backstage during theater productions, helping classmates study or leading with compassion in her volunteer work. But as her senior year comes to a close, those who know her best say her impact has been anything but quiet.
Born in Ohio to a family that values education, discipline and service, Lokesh grew up surrounded by books, music and meaningful conversations. Her early curiosity blossomed into a love for learning that shaped much of her identity. Though she has always excelled academically, her drive has never been about the grades. Instead, Lokesh is motivated by a deep interest in understanding the world and making it better—one steady step at a time.
Lokesh has been a crucial part of the school’s theater department, not as a performer, but as a key player in set production and backstage management. Over the years she has become someone to rely on. This year’s spring musical, the final production of the school year, marked her last as a high schooler.
“It was a little emotional. Even though I wasn’t on stage, I’d spent so much time backstage just measuring, painting, organizing props, and making sure transitions went smoothly. It felt like the end of something really meaningful. But I am glad that it’s all finally coming to an end,” Lokesh said.
Lokesh is part of the “crew” in regard to the theater production, her main job being moving props and other such things. She spoke on how being a part of this team has impacted her high school career.
“It has helped me meet a lot of new people, which really helped shape my time in high school,” Lokesh said.

Michelle Weng, Lokesh’s friend and classmate, spoke on Lokesh’s dedication to the destination along with her efforts throughout the journey.
“She’s always thinking about the big picture. She’s the person who remembers to bring extra tools to set build or stays behind after everyone else is gone. She doesn’t do it so she gets ‘noticed,’ she just cares,” she said.
But theater is just one part of Lokesh’s high school experience. Her academic focus has centered on the sciences, particularly in biology. Though she is still determining the exact field she would like to work in, she is gearing towards a pre-dental track.
Apart from Revere Players, Lokesh belongs to many other clubs, such as Mock Trial.
“Mock trial is my favorite club. My team and I got to go to states this year and it was a really fun experience. It can get stressful at times, especially when you’re speaking in a huge courtroom, but I honestly would do it all over again if I could,” Lokesh said.

Erica Boggs, Lokesh’s friend since her late middle school years, spoke on Lokesh’s work ethic.
“She’s always been a very focused, driven person. We actually met on the academic challenge team, which she isn’t a part of anymore, ironically. . . . When we’re in class together, I can just see how smart she actually is, it shows,” Boggs said.
Like many seniors, Lokesh is working on making her final college decision. As the looming deadline of May 1st quickly approaches, the pressure builds for Lokesh.
“I’m deciding between Case Western and the Ohio State University. It is a really hard decision because I know that I will thrive in both places as they are similar to what I’ve grown up knowing, but it is still scary to move away from home,” she said.
Weng spoke on her thoughts concerning Lokesh’s decision.
“She’s someone who’s just genuinely there for you. She doesn’t always say a lot in a group, but when she does, it’s the kind of thing that makes everyone stop and think. She’s super smart, but also so humble about it,” she said.
In her free time, Lokesh enjoys listening to music (anything from indie pop to instrumental scores), journaling and experimenting with digital design. She has also been working on learning her family’s recipes, something she began doing more intentionally over the past year as a way of connecting to her cultural roots.
Though her backstage days in high school are now behind her, it is clear Kavana Lokesh’s story is still in its early chapters. Whether she is conducting research in a neuroscience lab, helping a friend through a difficult time or building something no one else notices until it is needed—she will continue shaping the world quietly, thoughtfully and with great care.
As she stands on the edge of this new chapter, Kavana Lokesh continues to lead in the same way she always has—thoughtfully, steadily, and with purpose. Whether she chooses Case Western or Ohio State, those who have watched her journey know one thing for sure: she will keep making a difference, not with grand gestures, but with the quiet consistency that has defined her all along. In a world that often rewards the loudest voices, Lokesh’s legacy is a reminder that some of the most powerful impacts are made behind the scenes.
