Men’s Basketball – The Minutemen defeated Cuyahoga Falls 67-52 on Tuesday contributing to their overall record of 7-5. Junior Yodha Kulkarni was named the team’s Defensive Player of the Game, his second time receiving the honor. The squad will travel to Tallmadge to play the Blue Devils on Friday.
Women’s Basketball – On Saturday, the Lady Minutemen improved their record to 5-7 after defeating the Aurora Greenmen in overtime by a score of 54-50, Senior Hadley Hajdu led the team with points, scoring 30. The team wrapped up their week in Cuyahoga Falls with a 43-37 victory over the Black Tigers, improving their conference record to 5-4.
Wrestling – The Minutemen went 3-2 at the Jeff Suglio Minuteman Duelswith wins over Boardman, St. Ignatius, and Barberton. Aidan Jones was named Wrestler of the Week with a record of 4-1 including 4 pins. The Minutemen will compete in the Bill Dies Memorial Tournament at Firestone High School over the weekend.
Swimming and Diving – The Minutemen traveled to Akron on Saturday January 6 to compete in Suburban League Champs. Both the boys and girls team placed second in Suburban Champs. Alex Koutris placed first overall in the 50 Free and 100 Butterfly. Zach Koutris placed third in the 200 yard IM and second in the 500 Freestyle. On the girls team, team captain Kayla Smith placed first in the 100 backstroke and second in the 50 freestyle. Sophomore Kajsa Martynyuk placed second in the 100 butterfly and third in the 200 freestyle. The team will travel to Highland to compete in a dual meet on Friday January 12.
