Revere High School held their annual Homecoming dance, following their football game against Tallmadge on the weekend of September 23.
The homecoming dance took place September 23, while the game took place September 22.
While the dance is the main event, there were several festivities that led up to the gathering. The night before, Friday, September 22, was the annual Homecoming football game. The game took place at Revere High School and was against Tallmadge High School. The coaches had an idea on what to expect. Head Coach Robert Nickol spoke about his perspective on the game,
“The biggest thing for us this year is, we [are] very young, so we only have six seniors. When you only have six seniors, it’s difficult . . . Thankfully this year we have 25 sophomores, so we have 45 total varsity kids, that has really allowed us to practice more like a varsity football team should be practicing,” Nickol said.
Based on practice and work ethic this year, there appeared to be a confident point of view from Nickol for the homecoming game.
“[I] really believe that they’re going to be close games [in the future],” said Nickol.
While the game is a big part of homecoming, there is tradition with the student section mixed in. The students dressed in disco attire to show their school spirit and support for the football team and homecoming court.
The king and queen were announced during halftime at the game. The winners were homecoming king Jeffery Boyle and homecoming queen Ellie Meech.
Dagny Waldron, one of the freshman representatives, spoke about her experience.
“It’s exciting [and] unexpected and fun. It’s a great opportunity. It will be something cool to tell my kids,” Waldron said.
From members of the court, this is an opportunity for memories.
Early in the morning on Saturday, September 23rd, the president of the student council, Emily Garlesky, organized the dance. The invitation to help decorate has been sent out to everyone.
“Student council, and whoever [wants] to come decorate in the gym [can help],” Garlesky said.
The dance took place later that Saturday with a disco theme to match the Homecoming game.
The dance was held at 7 P.M. Music and dancing were held in the gym, while games and water were provided in the cafeteria. The dance concluded at 10:30 P.M.
