Students register in time for presidential primaries

With the 2016 election rapidly approaching, Revere High School students have an opportunity to register to vote through the school.

RHS social studies teacher Jason Milczewski explained the form students must fill out to register.

“The state of Ohio has a voter registration form, that has to be available at schools, libraries, [and] other public buildings,” Milczewski said.

Milczewski also added that civics are a very important part of American life.

“Without a stable civil society, the vision [one] has of their future can be altered,” Milczewski said.

RHS senior Brant Hursh expressed why he believes that every citizen should practice their right to vote.

“I feel it is important to vote because that is how our voice is heard and how we can make a difference. Plus, it is a right all citizens have and we should not abuse it because so many other people would [appreciate having] our government,” Hursh said.

Junior Thomas Baker, who also registered to vote, discussed why he believes students aspire to vote.

“It is something new, once you turn eighteen it is something that you are [now] allowed to do, [and] I feel like it is going to be fun, [,” Baker said.

As long as a student will turn eighteen in time for the general election, they are allowed to vote in the primary. Students must turn in their registration papers thirty days before the election.
