One who regularly eats at Asian restaurants should be eager to try the food at the newly-opened Noodle King.
Opened in August, 2023, by owner Eddy Wang, Noodle King is an authentic Asian restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere and delicious food.
Immediately upon entering the restaurant, one is greeted by a bright, fun and casual decor. Seating options include booths, tables and a bar, all with a view of the open kitchen where chefs prepare food.
The menu offers a wide selection of dishes at reasonable prices for the portions. There are nine appetizers priced from $4.00 to $12.50 and 14 soup ramen and pho entrees priced from $7.95 to $16.99. Their beverage selection includes a variety of Japanese sodas, boba teas, in addition to soft drinks typically available in U.S restaurants.
The order of Pan Fried Gyoza Dumplings ($6.75) was a great appetizer and easily could have been the main dish. They were nicely fried on the outside, with a crispy texture. The pork on the inside had a savory flavor without being too overpowering.
The Kyushu Tonkotsu Shio Ramen ($15.99) came with multiple sliced hard boiled eggs, mushrooms, fried pork cutlets and numerous other toppings. The crispy pork cutlets combined well with the broth, the wavy ramen noodles and the eggs which were marinated in soy sauce with a jammy yolk.
The Pho Tai Chin ($13.95) was a beef broth-based dish with rice noodles, rare sliced beef, brisket and meatballs. The broth was rich and flavorful which paired
well with the meat. Unlike the ramen, pho included rice noodles and had pronounced fennel and cilantro flavors.
A unique feature of the restaurant is that it connects with and shares a menu with Sakura, the sushi restaurant next door. Because Wang owns both restaurants located adjacent to each other, customers at Noodle King can order items from the Sakura menu, which has the advantage of making the menu more diverse and the dining experience more enjoyable. Sakura consists of sushi and traditional Japanese fare.
During the meal, the customer service was incredible. A waiter or waitress was always quick to take meal orders, refill drinks and check on anything diners needed. At the end of the meal, on occasion, the waiters give their tables free candy and thank their customers for coming. The servers as a whole were exceptionally polite and welcoming and made the experience significantly better than it is at other restaurants.
Overall, the food at Noodle King was delicious, and dining there was a great experience.
Noodle King is located at 3900 Medina Road. Suite W, Akron, Ohio and is open Monday through Sunday from 11:30 am to 9:00 pm.
