Winter sports update: week of February 16th
Men’s Basketball – This past Tuesday, the team played rival Copley for the Golden Ball. After the score went back and forth in the first quarter, Copley began to pull away. The boys lost 82-55. Before their game on Friday against Kent-Roosevelt, both teams joined in support of Lace Up 4 the Cure, a non-profit pediatric cancer foundation. The team would go on and lose 58-49. To close out the week, the team lost to Dalton 67-51. This week, the team will play at Highland tonight and then at home against Brookside on Tuesday. Their senior night will be this Friday against Aurora, celebrating their only senior, Nathan Anton.
Women’s Basketball – On Wednesday, the team celebrated their senior night with a 47-18 win against Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School. The seniors, Jeanie Hujer, Audrey Livesay, Emma Drushell and Dani Kaminski, came out and started hot. The team will play at home on Saturday for the sectional tournament.
Wrestling – The team traveled to Padua Franchiscan High School on Thursday for a duel. The team won 46-30, with wins coming from Lucca Bruno, Brandon Brinker, Austin Ogle, Parker Jones, Zach Oechnowicz, John Kusar and Colton Carmichael. The next day the team went up to Medina-Highland High School for a tri-dual against Walsh Jesuit and Medina-Highland. The team lost both of the duals. This Thursday the team will go to Hudson High School for a duel.
Swimming – The team qualifiers will travel to Cleveland State University this Friday to compete in the district competition. Qualifying divers will also compete this Wednesday for districts.
Indoor Track – Qualifiers will compete for the All Star meet this Friday to have a chance at States in March.
