Women’s tennis team hopes to improve from last year’s success
The Revere High School women’s tennis team plans to build on last year’s success, striving to win the Suburban league this season.
The team is currently second place overall in the American Division of the Suburban League. They finished in second place in the Suburban League last year after losing to Copley by a single point. Varsity coach Kathleen Shisler discussed what the team hopes to accomplish in the remainder of this season.
“We always set the goal to win the league, and it is still attainable, you never give up on that. We also want to get some girls to the district contest in the post-season,” Shisler said.
Shisler said that the team gets stronger and more unified after every match. She also explained why she believes the team will have success this year specifically.
“[The players this year] have become much more cohesive. We have seven on the Varsity team, they help each other and they are very positive. They have gotten much more consistent and you can just tell they love the game,” Shisler said.
Junior captain Sammy Crisalli, a three-year Varsity player, talked about her personal goals as well as the team’s overall goals.
“I personally just want to be a more relaxed player. I tend to get really tense and stress about winning. We want to be first in our league this year, and we have a pretty tough league. It is going to be hard but I think we can do it,” Crisalli said.
Senior Jennifer Carson, also a Varsity captain, mentioned her favorite part of playing tennis after almost four seasons.
“I think my favorite part [of playing tennis] would be just spending time with the team. The matches are pretty fun too, especially if we are playing a good school,” Carson said.
Shisler stated that the team would love to have more students come and support their matches. The Varsity team consists of senior Jennifer Carson, as well as Sammy Crisalli, Amy Lazbin, Alliy Hansen, Brittany Whitlam, Ellie Repasky, and Taylor Fee. The team finished third place in the Suburban League. Their final record record is 9-8.
