Women’s Cross Country trains for Suburban League success
The Revere High School Girls’ Cross Country team armed themselves with a positive outlook as they transitioned into the American conference of the Suburban League this season.
The team ran in eight meets and finished with the Suburban League meet in October. In each of these meets the team runs a 5k, the equivalent of about 3.1 miles.
Coach Amy Fagnilli expressed her expectations for the upcoming season.
“We have a really good core group and can definitely improve our record from last year,” Fagnilli said. Fagnilli also explained that everyone has committed to increasing their individual times to help the team as a whole.
“We have a large and talented freshman class and a few of them will most likely make it to Varsity over the course of this season. Whether you are running on Varsity or not, having a good group of girls makes the whole team better,” Fagnilli said.
Senior runner Rachel Kraynak explained that the team added many new additions from various grade levels. She voiced her expectations for the season.
“I think that the season will go really well and our times will really improve, especially the younger runners because they will get more used to running at that distance,” Kraynak said.
Individual runners found a great deal of success as they ran in their meets this season. Junior runner Tori Holvey explained that regardless of the record, the girls and coaches really enjoy the times and experiences that they share together.
“My favorite aspect is just being at practice and hanging out with the team,” Holvey said.
The team includes seniors Rachel Kraynak, Victoria Deng, Megan Kovacevich, and Abbey Randall. The girls traveled to the Claymont Invitational on August 29th, where they placed 6 of 14 teams. Holvey placed 20 out of 155 runners at the invitational. The team finished 6th in the Suburban League. With the addition of many talented runners, the future looks bright for Revere Cross Country.
