Winter Sports Wrap-Up
The boys’ basketball team is wrapping up its season with Dezmond Rozek averaging 10 points per game and 7 rebounds per game. Their biggest win so far has been against Copley at home 45-41. Against Copley Rozek led with 19 points/12 rebounds, while Teddy Hughes finished with 11 points, including the game sealing free-throws with 6 seconds left. They also had a big win against Benedictine 46-41. Dezmond Rozek led again with 16 points/ 13 rebounds. Their biggest challenge has been shooting consistently. They are trying to get some momentum going into the district tournament.
The boys’ wrestling team is currently 9-10 with a 3-2 Suburban League record. They finished 11th out of 43 teams at the Bill Dies Memorial Tournament. Jack Smith was runner-up, Dustin Shaffer was 5th and Zeck Lehman was 6th.
The girls’ basketball team’s record is 12-4 (8-2 in Suburban League). The girls’ have played a very difficult schedule, and they hope that the lessons learned from the grinding schedule will best prepare them for a deep tournament run. The Macedonia District is one of the most difficult districts in Ohio (Division II) and the girls have goals of bringing the first-ever District Championship home to Revere.
The swim team had their Suburban League Championship meet on Jan. 30th, and the Girls took 6th place, while the Boys took 5th. Most of the swimmers got personal best times. The swim team is preparing for the Sectional Meets ~ boys swim on Feb. 13th, and the girls swim on Feb. 14th ~ both swim in the evening at the University of Akron.
Swimmers must qualify for Districts from the Sectional Meets. Districts are Friday, Feb. 20th at Cleveland State University.
