Spring sports update: week of May 16th
Baseball – In their first playoff game of the season, the team defeated Brookside by a score of 6-1 on Monday to advance to the sectional final on Wednesday. Top performers included Aiden Weiland who threw six innings with six strikeouts, and Adam Jenkins who threw a scoreless seventh inning with two strikeouts.
Softball – Last Friday the team faced Strongsville at home in their last game of the regular season and lost 8-3. On Tuesday they will travel to Springfield to try to best the Trojans in their first game of the playoffs.
Men’s Lacrosse – After concluding their regular season with a 11-6 loss to Kent Roosevelt on the tenth, the 10-3 Minutemen will stay home to defend against Archbishop Hoban High School on Tuesday.
Men’s Tennis – The men traveled to Brookside on Friday to compete in the first round of OHSAA Division 1 Sectional tennis tournament. Merit Wagstaff, Akshay Elango, and Sam Lazbin will return to compete in the tournament this Friday.
Track and Field – The team will travel to Nordonia High School this Wednesday to compete in the district meet and return again on Friday for finals.
Women’s Lacrosse – With a 16-15 victory over Hoover High School on the twelfth the Women ended their regular season with a record of 9-7. They will play their first game of the playoffs on Wednesday against the Hawks of Maumee Valley Country Day School.
