Revere High School (RHS) hosted Fall Fun Day, a new event organized by the Senior Class Council aimed to bring students together during their day off.
The new event took place at RHS from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, September 20. Organizers of the event encouraged all students to come and enjoy the time. Senior Class Council President Macie Lehman and the other 2025 class council officers worked to make the day possible.
“It’s a way for the school to come together on a day off, . . . get involved with the staff . . . because we love our school and want to be here,” Lehman said.
Lehman, one of the event’s main organizers, reflected on the importance of the school community. Students of Revere Local Schools during fourth and fifth grade got to participate in an end of year kickball tournament, so it provided a way for high school students to reconnect with that memory. Students also got to engage with staff from the high school during the event.
“Some of the teachers from Bath Elementary [came] up since we [played] kickball and they were a part of it with us at one part in our lives. . . . Our staff at the high school [came] out,” Lehman said.
Coordinators of this day received contributions from various students and parents. Lauren Tompkins, President of the Pickleball Club, supplied nets for the event.
“Lots of students and parents [donated] spikeball nets and cornhole boards. . . Lauren offered to give us all the nets and everything,” said Lehman
For food and drinks at the event, Lauren Tompkins’ mother opened up the concessions filled with lots of snacks, drinks and more.
“We talked to Mrs. Tompkins. . . [She] runs the concession stands and she was willing to open them up for us that day,” Lehman said.
Lucca Bruno, class council vice president, was another prominent figure in the planning of Fall Fun Day. This day was not just for seniors, it was for the entire school to come together and experience a fun field day together.
“Instead of having people just sit at home, we [used] it as a time for everyone to get together outside of school and compete. . . comparable to a field day,” Bruno said.
About ten teams signed up for the kickball tournament. To participate, students had to fill out a Google form in their email and pay a small fee. The inspiration for Fall Fun Day came from a desire to create a fun and engaging fundraiser for the class of 2025. Class officers met with and discussed possibilities for a fundraiser with Doug Faris, Principal of Revere High School.
“Macie Lehman, Aidan McKee, Lucca Bruno and Rowan Klein… they were trying to think of a fundraiser idea and they were talking about wanting to play kickball,” Faris said.
Lehman and the other class council representatives took lead control of planning the day.
“Macie has done a great job sending out the Google form,” Faris said.
Faris said he hopes that this event will become a tradition such as other events he helped bring to Revere High School like Class Day and Mum Day.
“I am hoping that this gets passed down to each senior class to run the Fall Fun Day. I hope that this is a legacy that they leave behind,” Faris said.
Faris said he believes experiences like these add character and makes high school much more dynamic.
“School is so much more than just tests and papers; it’s things like this that really get me excited for you to have a cool experience,” Faris said.
After attending Fall Fun Day, many students showed up and played in the kickball tournament and other games with their friends.
