Revere High School has hired a new strength and conditioning coach for all athletes to help them improve in their sport.
Nico Ramicone, who previously spent time with St. Edward High School and Copley High School, is the new strength coach for all Revere athletes. In high school, Ramicone played baseball and continued through high school into junior college. He shared his philosophy for the athletes he works with.
“We need to strive to always chase perfection,” Ramicone said.
His drive for improvement ties in with his motivation for developing young athletes. Ramicone said he wants to be able to give his students the tools and the knowledge for them to be able to know what they are doing.
“I want you to be able to do this lift the same way as you are now as when you’re 50, 60, maybe even 70 years old,” Ramicone said.
The reason Ramicone puts his athletes through these workouts is to instill a strong foundation of how to train in a safe fashion. Ramicone is open with his athletes about the purpose of his workouts.
“I love expanding on something and why we are doing it, because everything that we do has a rhyme or reason,” Ramicone said.
Ramicone designs each workout to enhance each athlete’s needs. He is also looking to improve the weight room itself in the future to enhance his athlete’s experiences.
“I would love it to look like a college weight room here,” Ramicone said.
Ramicone aspires to replace older weights and equipment. He not only looks to improve the performance of his athletes, but takes pride in helping them become a better person as well. His work and attitude has caught the attention of Revere’s athletic director Don Seeker.
“He’s just an energetic young guy. Obviously, he has good experience,” Seeker said.
Ramicone has also become involved with the Revere community, attending various school events such as the Friday night football games.
“I would hope he’s enjoying it,” Seeker said.
Seeker has appreciated having Ramicone in the program.
“We have one voice and one strength and conditioning coach. I think that’s been invaluable,” Seeker said.
