Winter Sports Update: Week of Feburary 21st
Men’s Basketball – The team wrapped up the regular season by traveling to Aurora on Friday, and won 70-53. Heading into the postseason, the team maintained a 18-4 overall record, and with a 12-2 record in the Suburban League the team secured an American Conference victory.
Women’s Basketball – With a postseason loss of 61-37 against Brunswick on Thursday, the team finished their season in the second round of the playoff. The team maintained a 9-15 overall record throughout the regular season, with a 5-9 Suburban League record.
Wrestling – On Senior Night, the team finished the regular season with a 36-30 victory over Hudson. Top finishers included Lucca Bruno, Sal Bonacuse, Brandon Brinker, Austin Ogle, Mario Brienza, Aiden Jones, Colin Butler, and Alex Cable. The team will travel to the OHSAA Sectional Tournament on Thursday with hopes of advancing to districts.
Swimming and Diving – The team wrapped up their season at Akron for districts on Friday and Saturday. Both teams set new record times for their individual events and their relays. There will be a new head coach next year for the swim team as Anne Lochridge takes Mark Disalvo’s place.
Indoor Track – The team traveled to Spire Institute for the All Star Meet last Friday. The qualified athletes competed against more than forty teams from northeast Ohio. Top finishers included senior Andrew Farrow who placed third in the high jump with a jump of 6-02 and senior Kayla Kephart who placed second in the high jump with a jump of 5-01. Athletes in the top forty in the state have a chance to qualify for the State competition in March.
