Seniors named on All-American Soccer watch list
Two Revere High School seniors earned the position on the All-American soccer watch list, as well as being 2020 Suburban League athletes and members of the Senior All-Star Team.
Tommy Buser and Joey Klein, the men’s varsity soccer team captains, have received numerous awards through the soccer program, including not only Revere, but also the Suburban League; an Ohio High School Athletic Association league consisting of 15 high schools from Cuyahoga, Medina, Portage and Summit county. Buser explained how they were chosen to receive these honors.
“I was awarded my honors by other coaches who voted for players who they thought performed the best on the field,” Buser said.
Most soccer players start young, such as both Buser and Klein, who spoke about how he started getting involved in soccer.
“I started playing [recreational] soccer when I was four and have played year round since then . . . I’ve played club soccer since I was nine,” Klein said.
Teammate Pano Tsarouhas, a senior at Revere, commented on what it is like to play with Klein and Buser.
“Tommy is a very strong player that can do anything from scoring goals to defending the best forwards in the league. Joey, on the other hand, is like a magician with his feet. Every time I watch him play, I am always shocked by how long he keeps the ball,” Tsarouhas said.
Klein shares a piece of advice with his fellow soccer players.
“Take it slow. Four years goes by way faster than you think,” Klein said.
While the two are still deciding on where they would like to
attend college, Buser talked about his possible future.
“I do hopefully plan on playing soccer in college, it would be a dream,” Buser said.
Buser shared his last comment for the Revere community.
“Revere men’s soccer taught me to trust your teammates and that family will always be there for you, no matter what,” Buser said.
At the end of the season, Buser was named the All-American soccer player for the 2020-2021 school year.
