National Honor Society hosts Sadie Hawkins dance
Revere High School’s National Honor Society has planned a formal dance to raise funds for its programs and scholarships.
Revere’s National Honor Society has hosted a winter formal dance the past couple years. The dance is very similar to the Homecoming dance that is hosted by the school every fall. The two dances are similar because they bring students together in a safe environment.
Senior and National Honor Society president Matt Giltner is also a member who is working on the dance.
Giltner described what the theme will be for the dance and how people who attend the dance should dress.
“The dance theme is going to be ‘spring fling’. The dance will also be a Sadie Hawkins dance, so the girls will ask the guys. The people attending the dance should dress semi-formal, so there is no need to wear a blazer for boys and girls don’t have to go full out,” Giltner said.
Giltner discussed how the National Honor Society uses the money.
“NHS hosts the dance as one of our fundraisers to raise money for our NHS scholarship that is given away at the end of the year,” Giltner said.
Senior Jordan Gifford is secretary of National Honor Society and is taking the lead in organizing the dance. Gifford shared what she hopes the dance can be.
“I would like to add that we would love to have as many people as possible come, the more people that show up, the more fun it is,” Gifford said.
Senior and National Honor Society vice president Maya Mackeigan-Moore has been helping Gifford in the decisions for the dance. Mackeigan-Moore shared what the goal of the National Honor Society is with the dance.
“NHS’s goal is to raise money for the scholarship and to bring the school together to have fun,” Mackeigan-Moore said.
The date for the dance will be March 18. Tickets for the dance will be sold the same week of the dance.
