Anime Club hopes to gain new members
The Revere Anime Club is hoping to gain new members through the use of the announcements and a variety of different Anime shows.
Current Anime Club president Christian Harwick has served as president of the club for two years now. He discussed when the club has its meetings, and how the meeting days change to a different day.
“[We] have our meeting every other Thursday after school, but it could move to Wednesday,” Harwick said.
The club meets about twice a month on Thursdays, but they are considering changing to Wednesday to accommodate for the current members and for new members to join. The meetings take place in history teacher Jeff Fry’s room, room 244.
Anime Club vice president Nicky Gutierrez discussed the different activities in which the club participates.
“[We] talk about announcements for the club, watch two different anime shows, andand once a month we have movie and game night at someone’s house,” Gutierrez said.
The club watches one new show and then they continue a season of a show for the whole year. The show that they are continuing through this school year is Psycho Pass. The story of Psycho Pass takes place in an authoritarian dystopia future, where public sensors continuously scan the mental state of every citizen in the country to see the potential of committing a crime.
Jeff Fry mentioned how he became involved with the Anime Club.
“[We] had a student 10 years ago who studied Japanese and wanted to go to Japan. So he wanted to start the club to watch anime, and I volunteered to be the club’s adviser,” Fry said.
The Club is self-governed and meets outside of school.
Junior Breanna Greenfield voiced her opinion on the club.
“[My] favorite part about the club is watching anime with old and new friends,” Greenfield said.
The anime club is a place for students who have a common interest in Anime to meet up and discuss, as well as watch new and old anime shows. If a person wants to join the club all they have to do is go to a meeting.
