Revere welcomes new athletic director
Revere Local Schools began interviewing candidates to take over the role of Revere Athletic Director after the retirement of its previous one.
Bill Conley holds the Athletic Director position governing grades seven through twelve in the Revere School District. He previously worked at Chippewa High School as an Athletic Director and an Assistant Principal. Prior to Chippewa High School, he taught and coached at Copley High School.
Superintendent Randy Boroff, spoke of his first impression of Conley, as well as Conley’s enthusiasm regarding student athletes.
“He spoke [enthusiastically] in regards to every athlete, in not just their athletic endeavors, but also as student athletes, as people, and as kids, so that was very impressive how he talked about the whole student and not just an athletic vein,” Boroff said.
Revere High School Principal Phil King explained that although Conley’s official start date was August 1, Conley began his work a few weeks prior to his official start date to organize and prepare for his position. King added that Conley had meetings with Schumacher to smooth the transition between the two Athletic Directors.
Conley voiced his goals for the RHS Athletics program, including his interest in Revere’s youth programs.
“I’d like to see our head coaches start to get involved with their youth organizations, working with the younger levels and getting them excited about being at Revere, not wanting them to leave for other schools. I want our coaches to continue to give quality instruction to our athletes,” Conley said.
In addition to becoming Revere Athletic Director, Conley has also worked to revamp the Revere Rowdies club to increase the turnout at the school’s athletic events. He also met with every graduating class currently at Revere High School at their class meetings at the beginning of the school year to introduce himself. Above all, Conley hopes to generate school spirit and have students get behind RHS Athletics.
