Revere adds new counselor

Revere’s middle school transitions counselor has taken on new responsibilities after taking over the position for a retired counselor.

Middle school transitions counselor Mike Murphey has taken over Linda Weigand. Murphey spoke of the transition between the two counselors.

“The transition went smoothly. It is not that different from anything else I have done,” Murphey said.

Murphey also stated that he gets to work with students more and that he can focus on more students who need
help.

Revere High School Principal Phil King stated that Murphey was picked due to his attitude.

“Murphey was a good candidate for the job because he always has a good attitude. I like the way he treats people in a caring and positive way . . . We have people here who can help the students and I think he’s a big part of that,” King said.

Murphey is has more responsibilities like helping students with classes and helping fill out college applications. King voiced his opinion on the transition.

“I think it is a very smooth transition because last year he worked in our building,” King said.

The administration is glad to have Murphey on its team.
