Annual senior Prom to feature masquerade theme
The senior class council has been preparing and finalizing the last few touches to this year’s Prom, which will feature a masquerade theme.
Prom will take place at The Tangier in downtown Akron. Cynthia Gobrogge, senior class adviser, explained student requirements needed to attend prom.
“They have to complete a Prom contract for themselves and a guest if they have one and purchase a prom ticket online or in person,” Gobrogge said.
Prom tickets are $50.00 per person. Senior class treasurer Mattie Oleson explained the decision of this year’s theme.
“We thought of our masquerade idea during sophomore year. We started looking at venues and decided the food menu junior year, and we became more detail oriented this year,” Oleson said.
Oleson explained why they chose masquerade as their theme for prom.
“We wanted something unique and elegant. Also, people could bring some of their personality into the masks they wear, adding an element of excitement,” Oleson said.
Before Prom, Revere will be holding Promenade. It will be at the RHS gym from 5:30 to 6:30. At Promenade, students and their families can take pictures. Senior Class President Dan Kosich explained what they hope to have in Prom.
“[We plan to have] good food, good music, [and] and overall great night,” Kosich said.
The class council wants Prom to be “more of a classy masquerade theme.”
“We envision an elegant and fancy atmosphere with colored lights and handmade centerpieces,” Oleson said.
Class council is focusing their design on the lights and centerpieces to fit the Prom’s masquerade theme.
“[We have] beautiful centerpieces that tie in natural elements like plants and roses in addition to the masks and feathers,” Gobrogge said.
Following the dance, students can go to Riviera Lanes for After Prom. There, students can bowl, plays games and win prizes.
