Fall sports update: week of October 11, 2021

Boys’ Cross Country – The team had a meet on Saturday at Medina and placed 12th out of 28 teams. Top finishers included Akshay Elango with a time of 17:06, Anthony DeRubeis with a time of 17:32, and David Anand with a time of 17:40. 

 

Boys’ Golf – The team competed at sectionals last week. The team placed 10th, but they will not advance to districts.

 

Boys’ Soccer – The team faced Solon High School Thursday and won 1-0. They celebrated senior night with a full crowd in the “white out” theme. Ryan Novak scored the team’s goal.

 

Football – The team beat their rival Copley with a final score of 21-20. The team celebrated their senior night at the beginning of the game. The team had a total of 230 rushing yards and Colton Carmichael is a finalist for Game Ball of the Week by Cleveland.com. They sit one spot out of the playoffs, and their next game is at Kent Roosevelt.

 

Girls’ Cross Country – The team went to Trumbull County Fairgrounds for an invitational labeled “the legends meet.” Top finishers included Megan Diulus in 12th place with a time of 20:52 and Ellie Meech in 13th with a time of 10:54. Other top finishers included Katie Kinder, Laura Wagner, Charlotte Keenan and Evelyn Tucker

 

Girls’ Golf – The team participated at sectionals on Wednesday. Their season ended, but the team scored a total of 404.

 

Girls’ Soccer – The team played on Saturday and tied 3-3 with Wadsworth. Their final two games of the regular season will be at Norwayne High School on Monday and home against Aurora on Wednesday.

 

Girls’ Tennis – Maddie Kavenagh and Morgan Dobos competed at the seeding tournament on Saturday. They were seeded number two and will compete at districts on Friday.

 

Volleyball – The team faced Copley High School on Thursday and lost 3-0. They have matches on Tuesday and Thursday. Thursday is their senior night.n
