As most sequels go, Jumanji: The Next Level, plagued with cliches, delivers a near-identical plot as its predecessor, but the jokes told by Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson, Danny DeVito and Danny Glover make the movie watchable.
Jumanji: The Next Level brings back the original cast to play their roles from Jumaji: Welcome to the Jungle and adds Awkwafina, Rory McCann, Danny Glover, and Danny DeVito to play, respectively, Ming, Jurgen The Brutal, Milo, and Eddie. The film follows the same group of friends back into the game, but this time with a few changes. The friends realize upon entering the game that the rules have changed. This time, in order to escape, they must capture the Falcon Jewel from Jurgen The Brutal, who has kept it in the darkness. Throughout the movie, the friends embark on the journey to get the jewel back and show it to the sun to save Jumanji.
The film follows a plot very similar to that of other Jumanji Movies made, and the ending remains extremely predictable. The group once again is transformed into the game where they must complete a challenge. The addition of Danny Glover and Danny DeVito into this movie as grandparents of the usual characters saves it from being a complete bust. The actors Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson coupled with these old guys made for some funny scenes.
Viewers of Jumanji: The Next Level should not expect a riveting plot, but because of the laughs that come with this movie, it is worth watching.
